Beginning Quilting 101 & 102

 Beginning Quilting 101 / Double 4 Patch   
Learn to use your rulers and rotary cutters. Easy piecing techniques make this classic design using only 2 colors. You will be instructed in piecing a quilt top, how to measure and apply borders, and finishing the quilt with binding. Finished quilt is 70" x 78".

Beginning Quilting 102Jewel Box  
Students will learn all the basics of quilt making, how to use rulers and safely handle a rotary cutter.  Using chain piecing, two simple blocks combine into a versatile design using a straight set of 4 patches and half square triangles. Finished size is 56” x 72”.

Stitch Play with Alice              
           
Are you interested in taking your embroidery skills to the next level? If so, this class is for you! We will be learning variations of stitches that you may already know along with ones that you may not have tried. The class  will meet once a month and will cover 1 or 2 stitches and how they are used in a variety of ways. This is a perfect class for those interested in ‘free embroidery style’ and for Crazy Quilt projects.

 Panel Magic Quilt Technique

Learn the technique of taking a panel and transforming it into a beautiful scene as viewed through windows. You will learn how to cut your panel and frame the pieces into windows. The window technique is very easy and fast! You can use any panel of your choice. The size of the quilt will be determined by the size of your panel and number of borders you want to add.
WARNING! Once you learn this technique, you will want to make more Panel Magic Quilts!

If you would like to learn to Free Motion Quilt in a supportive and fun atmosphere then join me and learn how to begin quilting your own projects at home with your home machine. Free Motion Quilting allows you to work directly on your own projects with little or no marking and without the need for stencils.

Beginning Paper Piecing - The Judy Niemeyer Way

Have you ever wanted to do a Judy Niemeyer pattern but thought it was too hard? Come learn the Judy Niemeyer paper piecing method in this beginning class. You will learn Judy's cutting, stacking, sorting and sewing methods. We will be making (3) 7" x 7" paper pieced blocks and when you're done you will be able to tackle any Judy pattern.

Beginning Embroidery

Beginning Embroidery covers the fundamentals of how to set up your embroidery project, and how to stitch the most common embroidery stitches. The class is a full day session with the morning covering setting up your project, tracing your design onto fabric, basting your backing and design fabric together. 
Then the fun starts with the basic embroidery stitches. Straight Stitch, Running Stitch, Back Stitch, Buttonhole Stitch, Stem Stitch, Lazy Daisy and French Knots.
This is a stress free class and my goal is to provide a fun memorable embroidery experience to all.

 Beginning Foundation Paper Piecing


Basic technique for beginning foundation paper piecing. This class will introduce you to the basic techniques of foundation paper piecing. I will provide the basic pattern and paper pre-printed, in class. My sample includes 8 of these blocks to form a table runner.

Clamshell

The Clamshell is a traditional quilt block with a twist but still is constructed using foundation paper piecing. This block was split in half to avoid
matching seams, it has floating points designed into the New York beauty of the block, and a curved bias accent strap.
Finished quilt size is 62" x 76".

Join our workshop for Quilts of Honor. Quilts of Honor provides quilts to all veterans from all branches of the military. All service men and women that have been affected by war are eligible to receive a quilt. Join us once a month at Queen B's Quilt Shop to work on these quilts. If you are unable to attend our workshop please leave fabric donations for Quilts of Honor at the shop. In particular we need patriotic prints, reds, whites, creams, tans and blues.Thank you for your help.

 Donation Workshop (All Levels)

Join our workshop once a month to help perform a variety of duties that are involved in the many steps that are needed to complete a quilt. Queen B’s donates the fabric and quilters donate their time. We will provide technique demos for specific tasks that have to be done. All levels of quilters are welcome.
This is a great way to hone those quilting skills while contributing to a variety of very worth while causes which include organizations and individuals in need.  Meets the 2nd Friday of each month except November.

'Floral Menagerie' Block of the Month                   

'Floral Menagerie' Block of the Month from In the Beginning Fabrics features a different fusible applique animal each month for 12 months. Create these colorful animals using a floral print and then add a patchwork sashing to complete each block. Each bright and happy block is 24" x 24". Finished quilt is 72 1/2" x 96 1/2".

Full payment for classes is due when you register. At that time you will be provided with a supply list. You will receive a full refund if the class is cancelled. If you are not able to attend a class, you must give a 7-day notice in order to receive a refund. Any other cancellations are left up to the discretion of the instructor.
