Ribbon Stars

Ribbon Framed Stars

Fantasia
This Log Cabin quilt utilizes off-set Log Cabin blocks consisting of logs of unequal widths, this results in a stunning
finished project.  Please note that although the display quilt is a king-bed, this quilt can also be made as a wall hanging or

Northern Lilly Southern Rose
This quilt, designed by Ruth Pawers, was inspired by a lecture on Civil War Quilts.  The central portion is similar to the
soldier's quilts of that era.  The quilt was intended to be a tribute to those women of yesteryear who endured and
participated in times of war.

One Fabric Quilt
Love a great stripe but have no idea what to do with it?  This class is the answer.  Center, border and binding are all
created with just one fabric!  The class will create a lap quilt from the one fabric but class will cover creating larger quilts
as well.  The first day is spent deciding on your cuts, planning the borders and getting started.  The second class with
focus on finishing and border methods including squares in the corner and mitering.  You will also get ideas on creating
two different baby quilts from one fabric!  Be careful - this type of quilt is addictive and you see stripes everywhere!

Beginning Hand Applique'
Learn to prepare fabric for applique' using the starch method.  This method is an alternative to traditional needle turn
applique' and results in very smooth and sharp edges on your applique' pieces.  Students will choose their own designs to
work on.

Beginning Machine Quilting
Students will be introduced to the basics of free motion machine quilting.  Each student will work on a structured set of
exercises ranging from simple freehand doodling to complex feathered designs.  Pre-marked panels will be provided as
part of the material fee so that more time can be devoted to quilting.  At the completion of this 2-day class you will have
a good foundation in machine quilting and you will be well on your way to doing any kind of design that you can imagine.

You Need A Rita
Don’t you just love this name? And with this name should go a really fun quilt, and this is just that! The quilt consists of
many patterns as well as a pieced sashing to add interest. There are quick methods for the basic block and a new way to
do paper piecing for the sashing. Color is important, you need to be aware of what colors are going where…….we want
those stars to pop out both in the sashing and in the border. So be creative in your color selection, I’ve seen a real
variety and they all look great!

You Can Paint With Ink
Learn an artistic approach to your quilts and create a great wall hanging or flower block.  You chose from one of three

markers you will find many uses in your other projects and labels.

Deco Cathedral
This stunning black, white and red quilt is reminiscent of that wild and raucous bygone era of the 1020's where nearly
anything went.  This quilt is the first of a series of Art Deco quilts that will challenge you and give you the satisfaction of
having a true work of art when you are done with it.  Start planning to rearrange your house to make space for this
beauty on one of your walls.  There will be quite a bit of pre-cutting before the class so as much time as possible can be
spent sewing during the class.  This is not a particularly difficult to "construct", but it does require accurate cutting and
piecing skills, full size pattern pieces will be provided for the curved pieces.  Get some new bold fabrics that will do this
fresh new design justice.  "This ain't your Grandma's quilt".

Queen B’s 2007 Quilt Challenge
Create a beautiful, unique quilt or wall hanging using our two Challenge fabrics and any other fabrics you select, in any
pattern you choose.  Submit it by 4:00 PM on Sunday November 2nd and we’ll display it on the wall in the shop.  
Everyone will have the chance to vote on his or her favorite quilt/wall hanging between  November 10th and December
7th.  We’ll reveal the top three at our Challenge Party on Sunday December 14th from 11:00 AM until 4:00 PM.

The Rules:

Both Challenge fabrics must be used in your quilt/wall hanging in some way. More Challenge fabric is available in   
the shop while supplies last.
You can use the challenge fabrics alone or in combination with fabrics of your choice.
Quilts/wall hangings can be no larger than 60" x 60".
Completed entries must be labeled discretely and submitted by 4:00 PM on Sunday November 2nd.
All completed entries will be displayed anonymously in the shop. This adds to the fun and excitement.

Full payment for classes is due when you register. At that time you will be provided with a supply list. You will receive a
full refund if the class is cancelled. If you are not able to attend a class, you must give a 7-day notice in order to receive
a refund. Any other cancellations are left up to the discretion of the instructor.
Each student must purchase the required books and patterns for each class. It is illegal to copy printed materials for
class.
